Fun with sparklers

Fun with sparklers (blame tripod for the slanting horizontal!)

The shot was taken last weekend on the same night as I took the South Perth night shot with torch light.  I couldn’t remember when was the last time I lit a sparkler but I imaging it would have been since on Lunar New Year 2 decades ago lol!  It was a 10 seconds exposure shot at f/11, ISO 1600, set on tripod with remote shutter and flash at 1/2 power.

Key ingredients to a shot like this: dark night with minimal surrounding light, nice backdrop, couple of models who just arrived from the Arctic, lighter, sparklers, Nokia mobile with torch light to help with pre-focusing…and of course, a bunch of Asian like us who are willing to run around with sparklers at night like idiots on fire!  I was surprised no one in the good neighborhood actually reported us to police 🙂
